Acculturation and Eating Habits among Korean Americans: A Systematic Review
Kang Sook-Jung

Abstract
The purpose of this systematic review of the literature was to synthesize evidence regarding eating habit changes related to acculturation among Korean Americans and to make recommendations for future studies. Three research questions guided the synthesis of the study results. Five databases were searched for articles published in English, and 17 studies met the inclusion criteria. Understanding the dynamics of three concepts-acculturation, eating habits, and health-will make nurse researchers better able to move towards health-promotion and nursing interventions. Findings suggest that conducting studies focusing on specific disease conditions, which are prevalent in Korean Americans or Koreans, would be practical to apply to clinical settings. Also, studies focusing more on second-generation Korean Americans would be promising because there are genuinely experiencing food habit changes than the first-generation Korean Americans.
